Chicken Cordon Blue With Black Forest Ham

Chicken Cordon Blue is one of my favorite chicken meat food. I don´t do this often but this time instead of using a ham, I used pieces of Schwarzwaelder / Schwarzwälder  ham. This ham is a smoked pork ham from Germany. I wonder if someone has made cordon blue with black forest ham already.

Fried Chicken Cordon Bleu

Ingredients:

2 pieces of chicken breast without skin
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 slices Schwarzwälder/ Black Forest  ham
2 slices of  Emmentaler cheese
1-2 tbsp. Soy sauce
1/2 tsp. white pepper powder
1/2 tsp. paprika powder
4 toothpick
olive or vegetable oil for frying

Preparing the Chicken Cordon Bleu

How To Make:

  1. Wash the chicken breasts and pat them dry with a kitchen paper.
  2. Cut the meat in the middle into half but not thoroughly cut to make a pocket.
  3. Rub the crushed garlic inside and on both side of the meat.
  4. Combine the soy sauce, white pepper and paprika powder in a saucer and brush the mixture to the meat well. I used silicon brush for doing this.
  5. Then put/insert the Schwarzwälder ham inside the cut meat and then the cheese on top.
  6. Insert the toothpicks (2 in every cordon bleu) to hold the ham and cheese fillings.
  7. Fry them in the well heated frying pan with oil.
  8. Fry both sides until golden brown.
  9. Serve with boiled rice, potatoes or noodles or just salad for lunch or dinner.

Tips:

You can use any ham and cheese you like. You can add chili powder to the seasoning mixture if you want them hot. Enjoy!
